OpenBack is a Smart Notifications Software International Company which was founded in 2015. In 2015 OpenBack was the winner of the BT Infinity Lab Digital First competition out of eight finalists. The competition was for start-up businesses involved in the influence of communication in creating a better world.  The prize was support from BT’s technical and commercial teams in addition to membership of the Techhub Community. In 2016 OpenBack won the Web Summit in Lisbon of €25,000                                                                           

OpenBack were offered a place on UKTI’s mission to San Francisco in September to attend the prestigious TC3 summit in Silicon Valley and this will further enhance their potential to grow.

The Target market

The OpenBack team found that the commonly used push notifications were awkward and bulky and that OpenBack had the ability to develop a more user friendly notification. In transforming the software they focused on the user’s perspective. One of their important observations which had a significant influence was that each mobile app in addition to the each user, needed to manage and regulate the transfer and continuing management of notifications in a custom made accessible method. It is understood by OpenBack that each business needs to communicate with their customer on a regular basis and of the need not to upset the customer and cause the notifications to be blocked or uninstalled. The Brains Behind It

OpenBack has its Headquarters in 7 Percy Place, Dublin Ireland. OpenBack also has offices in California and England.

David Shackleton is the Chief Executive Officer of OpenBack. Previously he was the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Ding.com. David Shackleton and Mark Roden established Ding so that people working abroad could transfer airtime to their friends or family’s mobile phones in Ireland. Ding is the principal mobile top-up network and distributes a top-up every second and connects to 4 billion phones worldwide.  Ding has its headquarters in Dublin and employs 200 people.

Christian Ryder is the Chief Technology Officer of OpenBack. He is an accomplished mobile technologist and has frequently worked on innovative technologies for prominent companies such as Ericsson. OpenBack also has a board of directors with a reputation for creating many global technology businesses.
